Jesus said to give to give unto Caesar (the government) what is Caesar's; and give unto God what is God's.
Since we're a government of and by the people; we ARE people therefore each of us as being good citizens should serve our government as we ARE the government.
So yes we should participate in politics or else we deprive our government by default; and contend with Christ's dictate.
